A while back I told you about how Meredith and I were going to have a day together. Well a couple of weeks ago we did just that. We went to the mall and first we got her ears pierced.
She was so brave. Didn’t shed a tear, didn’t chicken out, picked out the cutest sweetest earrings ever (remember the dorky studs us 30-somethings had to get back in the 70s? they are no more!)
After the ear piercing, we did some shopping, grabbed a snack, and got her hair cut. She cut off a long ponytail to donate to locks of love

And then she had her hair styled - here she is chatting on the cell phone while the stylist runs a straightener through her new do - doesn’t she look important?
Then we got her a snazzy new shirt for valentine’s day, and here she is back at home showing off the complete look:
Seriously, we had a GREAT day, and I am absolutely going to make a real effort to do more of this with each of my girls. I could tell that my little middle child, people pleaser, girl felt truly special that day. She thanked me multiple times (which is why I did it…some appreciation). She did miss her sisters though, and told me that she didn’t want to ride the carousal at the mall because her sisters weren’t there to do it with her. We picked up a few trinkets for her sisters, and when we got home, Meredith hid in the bushes so I could announce her properly..she made her grand entrance, and her sisters were delighted with her new look!
Now that its over, yes indeed, Allison has decided that since Meredith’s ears didn’t fall off afterall, she would like to get her ears pierced next. We’ll be doing that outing in March, so stay tuned!
